Embark on a 4-day trekking adventure in the Moroccan Sahara — a journey through the immense golden dunes of southern Morocco, guided by professional nomadic guides and camel drivers. A traditional camel caravan carries your luggage, leaving you free to walk and fully immerse yourself in the desert experience.
Discover the fascination of desert immensities, encounter nomads along the way, and observe the unique animal and plant life that survives in this extraordinary environment. The rhythm of the trek follows the sunrise and sunset, offering unforgettable moments of calm, silence, and connection with nature, far from modern civilization.
Every morning, the camel drivers gather the camels, prepare the firewood, bake bread in the sand, and serve traditional Moroccan tea before the day’s stage begins. You walk at your own pace, taking breaks to eat, drink, rest, and contemplate the vast desert landscape. In the evenings, enjoy Moroccan cuisine prepared by the camel drivers and sleep under the stars or in traditional desert tents.
This trek is available from mid-September to mid-May, when the climate is pleasant for desert travel. We organize departures starting from just 2 participants, on the date of your choice.
Itinerário dia a dia
Departure early in the morning from your riad or hotel in Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) — the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, admire breathtaking panoramic views of mountains, valleys, winding roads, and traditional Berber villages.
Stop to visit several historic kasbahs, including Tamnougalt and the famous Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to the 16th century. Renowned as one of the best-preserved ksars in Morocco, Ait Benhaddou has been featured in many Hollywood films and series.
Continue the journey through the lush, palm-filled Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river oasis, before reaching Zagora, the “capital of dates.” From there, travel further south to Mhamid, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
In the evening, enjoy dinner and overnight stay in a traditional nomadic standard desert camp, surrounded by the silence and vastness of the dunes.
