Nearby, the Ashoka Pillar further validates Lumbini’s religious importance, marking the spot with Emperor Ashoka's inscriptions. Prominent landmarks within Lumbini include the Mayadevi Temple, situated near the Ashoka Pillar, where a 2,000-year-old statue of Mayadevi is worshipped alongside Rupadevi. The entire Lumbini area is designed as a peaceful garden that embodies values of nonviolence, harmony, and global unity. Numerous monasteries built by countries like Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Japan enhance the spiritual diversity of the site. According to the Master Plan by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, the area is organized into three zones: the Sacred Garden, the Monastic Zone, and Lumbini Village.

Begin your journey with a short flight from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa, which takes around 35 minutes. Upon arrival at Gautam Buddha International Airport, you’ll drive approximately 22 kilometers south to reach Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The drive takes about 45 minutes. After checking in to your hotel, you can explore the Lumbini Garden and the Maya Devi Temple.
